Waited for more than 1 and half hour till we got our table. (Too popular) Inside were full so we sat outside. It was quite cold around 8pm. The food were generally good, i like their tomyumgoong soup, very tasty. Others were ok. Probaby will come back for the soup.
This place was cool little find for my mom's birthday trip to Newport Beach to beaches in La. It had a great aesthetic and great food. Pros: good quantities of tofu and small cut tofu Cons: asked if they did complimentary dessert for birthdays and then got charged for it, quantities were small for a couple of dishes Taste: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Food 5/5 Wow what a place to exceed my expectations. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of everything. The Gai Todd Hat Yai had amazing flavor and a good side dipping sauce, but is unneeded they are great by themselves. Khoa Soi, very rich and flavorful. Also had ceviche which was very fresh and light. Lastly, I tried the Tom Kha Beer which is out of the norm for me. I don't normally drink, and especially beer. But it was very tasty. My friend had the Mango Sticky Rice beer and it was also good! I'd definitely come back. Service 4/5 Service was great! We got water refills and they checked in with us often to see how things were going. No complaints here! Ambiance 4/5 We sat at the counter bar area so perhaps a table would have had a different experience. Not bad, just different. It was not too loud and was able to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in around 10 years! Great experience would be back for the food and service. Went on a Tuesday at around 6:30pm. Checked in around 5:15 and it was a 30 minute wait, not bad. Was busy the whole time we were there ~ 1.5 hours but never felt rushed. All good was split and still had some to take home.
10 minutes wait to be added to the waitlist, 45 minutes wait to be seated, Small place but they set up tables out front. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The fried chicken dish, green curry dish with chicken and sticky rice with mango were presented beautifully and they were delicious. I will definitely be back to try their many other entrees.
It's always busy here and there's always a wait! I'd recommend you come early and get your name on the list. They do not do yelp check in's or rsvp. It's at least an hour during dinner time. The cool thing is the sushi spot next door is owned by the same owner. Go get a drink there while waiting! You can bring your drinks from there as well. We ordered the chicken wings and it was really crispy! Presentation was nice, we thought the little cylinder container was for the bones but it's filled with coconut rice. We all had the opportunity to share each other's dish. Pad See Ew, Khao Soi, Rad Na, and Pad Thai. There were many options to choose from. I had a bite of each and it was really good. We all enjoyed our dish except for mine. The Pad Thai was waaaaay too fishy. I think they overwhelmed it fish sauce. I was a bit shocked. Pad Thai should be a staple! On a side note, chicken satay was pretty good. Presentation was different than usual. I'm used to seeing them on a stick haha. Service is nice and attentive. It's a good spot. Next time I'll try Khao soi and we'll come on a better time. An hour plus wait for Thai food is crazzzyy haha.
We'd been waiting for a special occasion to come, since we knew this place was going to be a hit. We did have to wait about 30-40 minutes on a Friday night but we just went across the parking lot to BWW for a drink while we waited. The place was pretty busy and the servers looked a little overwhelmed but they were all very friendly and informative. We got the chicken wing and rice dish that was absolutely amazing. The sauce with the rice was so amazing. I absolutely love Masaman, it's my favorite curry, and this one did not disappoint. And the steak was so perfectly cooked, it really made it such an elevated dish. The kao soi was also done really well. Pad Thai was fine but not a must get. Overall a great spot and I'm sure we'll be back.
Love your curry and desserts. Was looking for a new go to Thai restaurant and I think I've found it. I always lean towards the Panang curry but this time decided to try something different. Ordered the Massaman with hanger steak and the flavor did not disappoint. It's a milder curry (compared to panang) with potatoes and a slight peanut flavor to it which I thoroughly enjoyed. The steak was medium-rare just as I like it with a side of roti which was just perfect. It was served on a large plate and I believe I scrapped every ounce of curry from the plate. Also tried the Khao Soi which was a creamy curry broth over egg noodles and two chicken drumsticks. The noodle dish was mediocre but presentation was beautiful. We ended the night with two desserts, the mango and sticky rice and their Wa-non pudding. The latter is essentially a marvelous upscale banana pudding, the taste which matched its presentation. Food was great but their dessert was far more exceptional.
EASY 5 stars for this place. Everything we ordered was top tier and honestly might be one of the best thai places I've eaten at. We had a huge table so we were able to order many items and try them family style. I absolutely loved the fried chicken items, especially that curry. Deliciously creamy and so so flavorful. The kimao was also one of my favorites. The staff were also so fun and energetic. They even gave us complimentary dessert! The server put the bill where I was sitting though and was like this guy better pay for y'all! All in good humor, I found it funny. One hundred percent would recommend this place to everybody!
We arrived about 10mins before 3pm and got seated right away. The line got longer very fast. We got crying Tiger, chicken wings, yellowtail ceviche, shrimp fried rice and street noodle soup. Everything was delicious except for the soup noodle. It has an odd taste like sweet and sour. It was just not my personal preference. The price point here is expensive. The Chicken wings dish was $21. The yellowtail ceviche was $26. Our tab was $130 for 3 people. Food was good but I think it is too expensive to eat here for me. Plenty of parking in the lot.
Expect a wait time if visiting on Fridays and Saturdays. I arrived at around 4:30 on a Saturday and the wait time was around 45-60 minutes. Everything I've tried at Hanuman was delicious. My favorite one out of all is the Penang Curry with steak. The mango sticky rice was pretty unique as well; its rice is purple so I wonder if its recipe consists of butterfly pea flower. The hot teas here are also shareable. It is served in a pot so you could ask for an extra cup which is pretty rare to see at a Thai restaurant. Overall, I would recommend visiting Hanuman if you are around the area during non-peak hours. Otherwise expect a decent amount of wait time.
